Participants who live outside California should arrange for flights to arrive at the San Jose International Airport on the morning of the first day of the course for pick-up at the airport. Otherwise, participants can spend the night before the first day of the course at the Clarion Hotel in San Jose (www.clarionsj.com), with whom we have a special group rate. (Just mention Yo! Basecamp when making reservations.) The hotel offers free shuttle service to/from the airport, which is only one mile away, and breakfast is also included in the room rate. We pick up participants here on the first day of camp. On the evening of the last day of the course, participants can either be dropped off at the San Jose International Airport or at the Clarion Hotel, depending on their departure time. Suggested flight times vary depending on the course. Details about scheduling flights and making hotel reservations are also provided in the Welcome Packet.
We understand the concerns parents have regarding their children flying alone. All people 18 and under must wait at the meeting spot that we have arranged beforehand. Upon departure, we will accompany students as close as we can to the departure gate unless hotel or other arrangements are made. (Airport restrictions no longer allow unticketed people to have access to the gates.) Most airlines provide special assistance to children who are traveling alone if the airlines are told in advance. |

| Our Commitment |
| YB is fully insured and operates on a non-discriminating basis, with special use permits issued by the Sierra National Forest, Inyo National Forest, and the Bureau of Land Management (Bishop Field Office). We are committed to a high standard of safety and excellence. All equipment is inspected thoroughly and regularly. While climbing, belaying and bouldering, students must wear helmets, which we provide. We also believe emotional safety is equally important. We do not permit drug or alcohol use, verbal or physical harassment, or sexual activity. Students are chaperoned and monitored at all times. |
